Calling All Kids …. Crossfit Kids is Coming to MTTCF in Eagan.
As a stay at home Mom with four kids, I learned early on that keeping them physically active during the day typically meant a good night’s sleep, which lead to a happy Momma the next day. And so we played… bike races to the park, games of tag, a pick up baseball game in the front yard, and even racing each other around the house (and if you ask Sam, he would say he won 98% of the time). Additionally, organized sports through the schools played a part in keeping my kids physically active. My kiddos are out of school now and looking back, I have to say, one of my biggest sense of accomplishments was the ability to foster a healthy lifestyle of fitness in each of them that continues today.
My kids have grown and moved away, as most tend to do, but my passion for fitness has never been stronger.
I’ve been an MTT CrossFit coach for over two years and I am excited to introduce our new MTT CrossFit Kids program which will be starting up on January 17, 2015. Adding a kids program has been part of our plan here at Minnesota Top Team since the beginning and we couldn’t be more thrilled that the time has come.
I had an opportunity to test out our programming ideas with three really cool kids during the month of November.
I’m calling it a huge success although I’m not entirely sure who had more fun, me or the kids. But if I were to base it off the disappointment in the kids faces when told we were done with classes for a while, I know they had just as much fun.
The coaches at MTT Crossfit Kids in will pair fitness and fun in the hopes of fostering a lifelong love of health and fitness for your children.
When: 6 Consecutive Saturdays 9:00am – 9:45am. January 17, 2015 - February 21, 2015
Where: Minnesota Top Team - 1959 Shawnee Rd #110, Eagan, MN
Who: Children ages 7 to 12 (class size limited to 6)
What: (Program Description) CrossFit Kids combines gymnastics, body-weight calisthenics, and weightlifting elements to develop capacity across Jim Cawley and Bruce Evans’ 10 General Physical Skills (coordination, accuracy, agility, balance, power, speed, stamina, strength, flexibility and cardio) with additional focus on elements that encourage bone density and vestibular system development. Children and teens have a great opportunity to maximize their physical skills when exposed to this stimulus during years of peak development, and the elements are combined to keep children engaged and entertained, while teaching them proper movement mechanics and creating a broad athletic foundation.
Why: Tell me, what child does not want to run, jump, climb ropes, roll somersaults, do cartwheels and hang off the wall without getting yelled at for doing so? Even better.. be encouraged to do so.
Teaser Alert: MTT CrossFitters know we don’t see the workout until we walk into the gym… but c’mon, what kid would not want to play this cool Crossfit Kids Baseball game !!
"CrossFit Kids is not merely a scaled down version of Crossfit. It is entirely and absolutely Crossfit, geared and designed for a special population and the specific development needs of that population.” ~ Mikki Lee Martin, CF Kids Co-founder
