Ashley has been at Minnesota Top Team for almost two years and from the minute she joined she quickly became part of our MTT family unit. Ashley is an "all in" girl, she's not afraid to try new things and challenge herself. She's been a part of our boxing, core circuit, CrossFit and even a little BJJ now and then. She even competed in a "real" boxing match last summer--now that's legit! Her first love now is CrossFit. She loves it so much she decided to get her L1 CrossFit certification. Take a look at what CrossFit means to her and what it's done for her life.
"If you want something you have never had before, you must be willing to do something you have never done before.
And at Minnesota Top Team, in Eagan, they encourage us to do that which we have never done before. I love working out because it keeps me active and healthy, but it is also a passion of mine. Being able to get out and try new things is what drives me to keep going. The best advice I have ever been given is to always challenge yourself and when I started at MTT CrossFit in Eagan I knew that every time I walked into the gym I would be faced with new challenges. There are of course the physical challenges: How am I going to lift this much weight?, Can I really jump that high or run that far?, Is it even possible to do that many pull-ups at one time? And the list of physical challenges could go on!
Not only do you get to push yourself physically at MTT CrossFit, but a huge part of every workout is being able to push yourself through all the mental challenges that you are faced with as well. From the time I walk through the doors at MTT CrossFit the anxiety kicks in as I take a first look at the WOD and see just what I am in for. The mind starts racing: How long will this take me?, How much weight should I use? and How many rounds can I really possibly do in that amount of time? And then right before that clock starts you realize that this is going to be a race with yourself, you have THIS workout to give it your all and to push yourself to new limits. When the workout is over and you are left gasping for air and reaching for water it suddenly hits you, you did it! You made it through the WOD, you pushed yourself as hard as you could, you tried something new and you now feel like you could accomplish anything. You hear everyone cheering for everyone else as they finish the WOD and you are reminded once again that it is the strong community aspect at MTT CrossFit that keeps you coming back for more.
