Sports and fitness have always been a passion of mine. So when I was introduced to CrossFit , almost a year ago, I knew immediately this was my avenue to share my love of fitness with others.
For those of you hearing about CrossFit for the first time, CrossFit is a workout focused on building functional fitness (meaning to be prepared for random physical challenges), through short, intense and constantly changing workouts. Its about competition and camaraderie. Its about testing your limits and that feeling of WOW when youve just push pressed a personal best or completed a hand stand push up or jumped up on that 24 box.
CrossFit will make you sweat! CrossFit will make you sore! And CrossFit will make an 8 min workout seem like a 30 min workout! And thats why I love it! Because through the CrossFit constantly varied, high-intensity workouts, you will feel stronger, you will see noticeable changes in your body and you will feel damn good!!
Another thing you will notice about CrossFit is its love of acronyms and abbreviations. So I thought Id share my acronym of CrossFit, as of today. (But as you will learn CrossFit by definition, is a sport of constantly varied activity, so this too may soon change.)
Condensed (a quick, intense workout for our busy schedules)
Ring Dips (and you thought these were only for gymnasts to perform)
Oh My (you will feel the burn)
Scalable (allowing people of all fitness levels to participant in CrossFit)
Squats (the most foundational movement)
Form (CrossFit is committed to teaching the fundamentals)
Intensity level (proven factor of performance improvement)
Tabata (the name for internal training of 20 sec on 10 sec rest for 8 rounds)
Can't wait to see everyone try CrossFit and watch it change their lives too. To our core group of MTT CrossFitters: Fred, Billy, Jennie, Jeremy and Jeff, thank you for being a part of this with me. The journey begins
